Surrounding Angels Camp are several of California’s famous caverns. Each one offers its own brand of adventure. At the Black Chasm Cavern you will see a wide variety of formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and the vast arrays of rare helictite crystals which earned the Black Chasm Cavern the distinction of National Natural Landmark. Mercer Caverns have a large number of speleothems, stalactites, and stalagmites. Moaning Cavern is home to the largest vertical chamber in a public cavern. Here you can take a walking tour, rappel, go on a cave adventure tour or try the climbing tower. California Cavern is a State Historical Landmark offering walking tours, expeditions into Mammoth Cave, a Middle Earth expedition and spelunking trips. Kids of all ages will enjoy the gemstone mining and gold panning.
